John Edwards 11/5-11/17

Two weeks ago, John Edwards introduced his new strategy for Iran. He based it off of what he has learned from the mistakes made by the Bush administration in the handling of the Iraq War. His plan is a five-point startegy and it includes the following: end the preventive war doctrine, use tougher economic sanctions, use incentives to make Iran abandon its nuclear weapons, revisit talks with Iran using a new multi-level diplomatic approach, and reengage talks with foregin countries like Russia and China on the problems and conflicts facing Iran. Looking at other foregin affairs, John Edwards wrote a statement on recent developments on Pakistan. The main point of his statement was that Pakistan is a country not to be forgotten, and it's a worrisome place especially with their recent political chaos. Upon releasing his outline for a prevention on a war with Iran, he also released his opinion on the Writers Guild strike. He supports and commends them for standing up for themselves, and stated, "These writers deserve to be compensated fairly for their work." Later that week, the House of Representatives made a decision to vote for the Peru trade deal, which will expand the NAFTA model. This was something John Edwards fought against for unemployment purposes, and after the decision was made, said,"I'm dissapointed by today's vote to approve the Peru tade deal and expand the failed NAFTA model that has cost us more than a million jobs."In this past week, while Edwards was in Des Moines, Iowa, he recevied an endorsment from Caucus For Priorities. It is a group consisting of roughly 10,000 members that inform the public about the problems and unfairness surrounding the federal budget. This endorsment provided Edwards with some extra momentum before entering the Iowa Democratic Party's Jefferson Jackson Dinner. While still in Iowa, Edwards wasted no time in accusing the current problems with health care on Congress. With holding them accountable and trying to further his plans for universal health care, Edwards stated, "Congress shouldn't have health care if Americans don't." Edwards even accused fellow Democrat Candidate Hillary Clinton of defending Washington, when she should be fighting for universal health care. Also, with the Farm Bill being shot down by Republicans in the Senate on November 16th, John Edwards released the following statement, "But instead of helping family farmers, Republicans seem more concerned with lining the pockets of big agricultural conglomerates. Well, I can tell you the fight is not over." Two nights ago, John Edwards participated in the Democratic Presidential Debate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Next up for John Edwards will be a Town Hall Meeting in Reno, Nevada on November 18th.

A great comprehensive summary of Edwards's week--this guy certainly doesn't slow down! In your next postings, keep up with the use of links on current events articles, but cut down on linking things like the "Bush Administration," since we're all pretty familiar with what that is. Also, use paragraphs! I look forward to reading your future postings.
