John Edwards has not been in the press much recently. however, his wife has been taking shots at John MCain and his health plan. she says that it is not universal and would leave millions of americans left without health care. she also made the point that under mccains health plan neither her nor mccain would receice health care as both have been diagnosed with cancer before and edwards with incurable cancer.
she says as far as health care goes, she likes clinton's plan better because it is completely universal.
niether her or her husband have endorsed a candidate but on this specific issue she likes clinton's plan over obama's.

Edwards recently announced that if either of the two democratic candidates were to offer him a vice president position, he would not accept the offer. He has not given any specific reason why he would not accept the job, instead just answering reporters with, "No."
He has also stayed quiet in the past weeks on which candidate he would endorse. However, he has praised both candidates, and at this point it is safe to say that both the candidates will continue to try and persuade Edwards to endorse them. But if Edwards were to endorse one of the candidates, why would he be waiting so long? It is quite possible that at this point he may choose not to endorse either Clinton or Obama.

Edwards fading away....
As previously predicted, John Edwards name seems to be disappearing from any headlines or articles. Once the big story, as many awaited his potential endorsement of either Clinton or Obama, Edwards inactivity has erased him from the minds of nearly all news services and many American minds. It has actually become nearly impossible to find any new information on the status of John Edwards. It will certainly be interesting to see if his "neutral" strategy receives some sort of payment at the end of the election. A payment may come in the form of an Attorney General position in either one of the potential Democratic candidates cabinets. I guess in a race so close with a name so faded, Edwards really has no purpose anymore to endorse anyone until there is a clear- cut announced winner.

Edwards
Not much has been said of Edwards in the last few weeks. He still has not endorsed a candidate, and at this point is probably not going to. Something did happen to his family outside of the political sphere, this weekend his father in law died of heart failure at the age of 87. Other than that Edwards has not been making appearances or fighting for any candidate since he dropped out of the campaign.

While last week we reported that Senator Obama has been having talks with former Senator John Edwards, it is now Hillary Clinton who has been speaking with Edwards. When asked whether or not she has talked to Edwards in recent weeks, Clinton simply stated the two have spoke on several occasions. In the past two weeks, Clinton and Obama have both been picking up their game with trying to get an endorsement from Edwards. They both know it could be crucial to winning the nomination.
Clinton has also been criticized for how similar her remarks have been to Edwards. There have been about a paragraph of remarks that have been tied back to what Edwards said during his candidacy. Could this be a mechanism to try and get Edwards endorsement?
Besides meeting with both Obama and Clinton recently, Edwards has continued to campaign for universal health care from birth to death as he calls it. If Edwards does endorse a candidate, it may be that candidates view on health care that decides who gets his endorsement.

Edwards Update
It appears as though Barack Obama made his way down to North Carolina in order to meet with John Edwards. Edwards has yet to make an official endorsement for a Democratic candidate. Obama admitted to the meeting saying they spoke of how they can "move the party in a direction that focuses on middle-class issues _ relieving poverty, reducing the influence of special interests in Washington". It has leaked that Edwards is worried about Obama's health care plan which he feels is far inferior to Clinton's. Edwards is also bothered, however, by Clinton's policies and ties to special interest groups. Edwards may be stuck in the middle right now, but I would certainly advise him to jump on board with somebody very soon. The longer he waits, the less of an impact he will have on the outcome of the race. As time passes, his endorsement truly becomes less and less important.

John Edwards
With the difference in delegates within the Democratic party at only 27, Clinton over Obama, Edwards' endorsement could make or break the election for either. With that in mind, could Edwards be a possible VP candidate. many people are now wishing for a Clinton Obama ticket or vice versa, but what about Edwards. not much has been heard from Edwards since his withdrawal from the race, the first things we will have to look for is who he is endorsing, if anyone.
Sunday, February 3, 2008
On January 30th, while in New Orleans, former Senator John Edwards announced that he will be pulling his name out of the presidential race. It was some what of a suprise, as Edwards has previously stated that he intended to stay in the race till the end. However, due to a lack of fundraising that was far behind Obama and Clinton, and his results in the polls, it was a smart decision. Although Edwards has pulled his name out of the race, he still hopes to help make America better and find that right candidate from the Democratic side to step into the White House next January. He has pledged his support to Obama, and it should be interesting to see in the next couple of weeks whether or not he endorses him.

Edwards Finding a Home in Third Place
After the results of the South Carolina Primary, Edwards found himself yet again in third place. He received only 18% of the vote in a Primary that Barack Obama ran away with. This must have come as a surprise to Edwards, who actually won South Carolina in 2004. Edwards has insisted that he will stay in the race until the end. He even added that "in the last couple of weeks he has received the most online contributions of his entire campaign". Edwards is pouring most of his money and energy into Super Tuesday, but appears to be outmatched by Obama and Clinton. By staying in the race,Edwards, who may be the deciding factor in the Democratic race, is positioning himself to receive a Cabinet position. The 10-15% of the votes he is receiving will be viewed as votes stolen from these other two leading candidates. The one whom has the least votes stolen will most likely win the seat. Thus, Edwards is making himself a very significant factor in the race either Democratic front runner will run.

Edwards in the Primaries
As Edwards falls further and further behind the two main frontrunners one starts to question who he will place his support behind and if there is any chance for him to be on a ticket as a vice presidential candidate. Going into South Carolina Edwards may get a jump in the votes but most likely not nearly enough to catch up to Obama and Clinton seeing as how they both have at least twice as many delegates as he does after Nevada. It will be interesting to see if Edwards will stay in throughout the entire primaries or place his support behind the candidate that he thinks is best or will pick him as a vice president, if he stays in the race, he most likely to lose and also take away from Obama or Clinton.

It seems that Edwards is more concerned with the South Carolina primary than he is the Michigan one. That makes sense though, with the Michigan one really not having much significance. Edwards has spent four straight days campaigning in South Carolina in preparation for the upcoming primary. With it being the state in which he was raised, South Carolina could give Edwards his first primary win.
After the Iowa caucuses, it can be said that Clinton and Edwards are in a dog fight, Edwards criticized Clinton recently for comments regarding change and Martin Luther King Jr. He said, "Those who believe that real change starts with Washington politicians have been in Washington too long and are living a fairy tale." It should be interesting to to watch these two battle it out in the upcoming months.

Edwards Update (January 6, 2008)
Edwards was perhaps one of the biggest surprises at the Iowa Caucus. He hauled in 29.8% and pushed Hillary Clinton all the way down to third place. Edwards may have done more damage to Clinton then Obama's victory did as the two were constantly battling during previous debates. It appears now that the Democratic seat will be a fierce battle between these three candidates. With Obama and Edwards both surging forward and Clinton falling backwards, the New Hampshire Primary will be an interesting forum for reactions and strategic changes.
